Celebrating 75 years of international culture with a global identity and campaign

Using the design language of world flags, we explored what a truly global campaign should look like for the world-renowned arts festival.

By incorporating abstract flag motifs into the ‘75’ numbers, I created a simple icon that could sit neatly alongside the existing EIF logo. We then began creating a larger set of campaignable, colourful flags that incorporated the ‘75’ in increasingly abstract ways.

The campaign was a huge success, helping to spread the festival’s message across Edinburgh with real visual cut through in a city already overflowing with street posters.
